I have great interest in marine creatures physiology and their interaction with environment, working with marine biomineralization (mollusca calcification and coastal protist choanoflagellates biosilicification) and more recently fish growth and energy balance (e.g. leptin in salmonids).
Currently I am invovled in an EU-supported project LIFECYCLE, together with Prof. Dr. Björn Thrandur Björnsson, mainly addressing the modulation of hormone action on fish development, growth and environmental adaption, using a broad methodological approachs, for instance in vivo assays, in vitro culture (primary tissue cell culture), radioimmunoassay, proteomic techniques, and microarray analysis.
Regarding global warming and ocean acidification, I am also interested in extending my research and evaluating the effects of climate changes (e.g. temperature and pH value) on fish endocrine systems and marine biomineralization.
I am a member of the Fish Endocrinology Laboratory (FEL).
