I defended my Ph D thesis in Ecology at the Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China in June 2004. During my Ph D studies, I focused on nitrate leaching in arid agro-ecosystem. After graduation, I transferred my research interest to air pollutant (ozone). During 2007-2011, I worked as a special researcher in the lab of Kazuhiko Kobayashi, Graduate school of agricultural and life sciences, the University of Tokyo, Japan. The funding was supported by Eco-Frontier Fellow of the Ministry of Environment, Japan (2007-2009) and Fellow of Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) (2009-2011). My work focused on the possible mechanisms on differential responses of modern cultivars of winter wheat to elevated ozone under fully open-air field conditions (FACE systems) and quantitative review on effects of ozone on the growth, physiology of major crops by using meta-analysis technique. Now, the new post-doctoral position started from March 2011in Dr. Johan Uddling’s group at University of Gothenburg. The work will focus on functional meta-analyses of the impact of atmospheric change on plant–atmosphere gas exchange, and simulations of future agriculture and forest ecosystem processes/services as well as interactions between forest composition and atmospheric chemistry in a changing climate.

Research

  • Meta-analysis on the response of plants to global change
  • Plant eco-physiological response to climate change and air pollution
  • Carbon and nitrogen cycle among soil, vegetation, and atmosphere
  • Modeling plant productivity in the future climate and air quality
  • Deposition of trace gases to vegetation surfaces
